Army nod for new Siddiquenagar way
Hyderabad: Authorities of the Mehdipatnam Military Garrison on Tuesday agreed, in principle, to provide an alternative route to the residents of Siddiquenagar.
Siddiquenagar, which is located in the midst of the high security military area of Mehdipatnam Garrison, had recently made headlines after the alleged killing of 11-year-old boy Sheikh Mustafa, by two military jawans.
In view of clashes between the local residents of Siddiquenagar and military personnel over free passage, the Hyderabad district administration and the GHMC authorities had been working on an alternative route.
On Tuesday, Jaffar Hussain Meraj, MIM MLA of Nampally constituency, met Brigadier Sukumar Vinod, Deputy Commander Rajesh Holla and other officers of the Garrison and placed the alternative route before them.
According to the MLA, the civic authorities have identified a route, which is adjacent to Balkapur Nala, which can lead via Madina Masjid to Ahmed Nagar, in the First Lancer area of Humayunnagar.
He said, “There is a gravel road along the nala and a small bridge is to be constructed to connect Siddiquenagar. The military authorities accepted the route and assured that they would take a decision in a fortnight whether to go ahead with the proposal.”
