Roadies gave me fans: Rannvijay Singh
Roadies anchor Rannvijay Singh, who had taken a break from the show to pursue a career in films, is all set to return to the show. About going back to the show he says, “I had stepped back from Roadies because I thought if I continued there, I wouldn’t be able to focus fully on a film career. But now I feel that my life as the Roadies anchor is a separate experience from the career that I am trying to build in cinema.”
The anchor-turned-actor is currently wrapping up the shoot of his television serial Pukar, but says that he wants to take a complete break from acting before starting on a clean slate. “I want to go out there and meet the filmmakers I want to work with. So far I’ve only depended on the fan base that I’ve built through Roadies to get me films. Maybe now I need to meet filmmakers that I’d like to work with. Let them know the work that I’ve done in films. Maybe even show them my show-reel if they wish.”
In the meantime however, all his energies are focussed towards Roadies. “I have a fan base because of Roadies, even though it may not be the same as Salman Khan’s. It’s a different profile of fans. I remember when I was shooting for Mod, director Nagesh Kukunoor was taken aback by the kind of attention I got from people who’d come to watch the shoot. I don’t want to lose what I have, that’s why I am returning to Roadies. As for films, I’ll start on a clean slate and try to get the kind of work that I want to be known for. Otherwise, I am happy with what I have on Roadies. And it’s quite a lot.”
