Telangana lawyers file case against Nara Lokesh for defaming KCR

Lokesh said that Rao was incapable of being a Chief Minister

Hyderabad: Telangana State advocates have approached the Banjara Hills police and lodged a complaint against Telugu Desam leader Nara Lokesh, alleging that he made offensive statements against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday.

According to the complaint, Mr Lokesh in his speech at the NTR Bhavan on Sunday on NTR’s death anniversary said that Mr Rao was incapable of being a Chief Minister and that in his last six months of his government he has done nothing to the people of TS apart from procuring a new fleet of vehicles for the police and changing the colour of the vehicles in the convoy.

Advocate Konthan Govardhan Reddy said, “His statements are objectionable and could affect peace and tranquillity in society. Hence we requested the police to book a case against Mr Lokesh under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the IPC and initiate action against him.”

Banjara Hills police said they have a complaint and acknowledged it but are yet to book a case and hence sought legal opinion to proceed further.
