Central Revenue sports meet from January 19-21
Hyderabad: The three-day 47th All-India Central Revenue Sports Meet-2015 will be held at the Gachibowli Sports Stadium from on January 19 to January 21.
Kushal Shrivastava, the chairman of the Central Board of Excise and Customs, New Delhi, will be the Chief Guest during the opening ceremony. Prominent members of the Hyderabad cricket fraternity V.V.S. Laxman and Shivlal Yadav will be the guests of honour.
“There will be 16 sporting disciplines in which the sportspersons from the Central Revenue departments will contest,” said G.V. Krishna Rao, the chief commissioner and chairman of the organising committee addressing a press conference on Saturday.
“There will be one team from each participating zone in six team sports. The winning team of the respective zonal sports meet have qualified for the the All-India meet,” he said.
The competition will be conducted in 16 disciplines athletics, contract bridge, chess, carrom, badminton, table tennis, body building, basketball, volleyball, football, hockey, tennis, kabaddi, swimming, cricket and billiards.
“This is a competition for teams from income-tax, customs, central excise and service tax departments of the Central government, and over 900 players from these departments are going to participate in these games,” he said.
