Age no bar: Minister, 77, marries 24-year-old
Imphal: Manipur’s 77-year-old health minister Phungzathang Tonsing has tied the knot with a nurse 53 years younger to him.
According to reports, the marriage took place on Friday.
The 24-year-old nurse, Thangaisang, hails from the minister’s native place.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh also attended the wedding, according to news reports.
Mr Tonsing’s first wife died in 2011 following a brief illness. Mr Tonsing has two sons and three daughters all of whom are working outside the state. The minister, who is not keeping well, stays with several relatives and helpers.
Mr Tonsing, a veteran Congress leader, represents Churachandpur Assembly constituency since 2002.
