Constable attacks police inspector in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A police constable allegedly attacked a police inspector at the All India Industrial Exhibition Grounds in Nampally on Friday night.
According to police sources, the constable, Ravi Kiran, attached to the Mirchowk police station, was deployed at the exhibition as part of the security team.
While inspector G. Sridhar of Begum Bazaar was inspecting security measures at the premises, he found a group of constables sitting on chairs with their caps off and chit chatting. The chairs they occupied were meant for visitors. The inspector asked them to get up and get to work.
“Though the other constables did not take offence, Ravi Kiran was offended and as the inspector walked away he attacked him from behind. However the locals caught him and thrashed him,” said an official.
Mr Sridhar said he just asked the constables to get to work instead of chatting. “Ravi seemed to bear a grudge against me and attacked me.”
Ravi Kiran denied the allegations and said the inspector hit him and abused him first.
