Chris Brown’s probation revoked

Los Angeles Superior Court allowed Brown to remain free until a March 20 hearing

A judge has revoked Chris Brown’s probation for his 2009 attack on then girlfriend Rihanna, after the rapper travelled to a concert without permission and failed to complete his community service on time. Los Angeles Superior Court judge James Brandlin allowed Brown to remain free until a March 20 hearing, when the judge will receive an update from probation officials, reported TMZ online.

The 25-year-old singer had been ordered not to leave Los Angeles County without permission back in December and his recent trip to perform in San Jose was not approved. A shooting at the San Jose club injured five people, but Brown was apparently not involved in the attack.

Brown’s lawyer told the judge that his office incorrectly advised the R&B star that he did not need permission to travel. He still has around 200 hours of community service to complete before the end of January, as he was requested to serve a total of 1,000 hours.

In a separate case in October 2013, judge Brandlin ordered Brown into rehab after he struck a man outside a Washington DC hotel and was charged with misdemeanour assault.
