'Praising Modi by any sensible Congress man is totally out of question': Chacko

New Delhi: Congress leader P.C. Chacko on Friday condemned his party colleague Shashi Tharoor's gesture of praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the grand old party does not share his views, as it is an individual opinion.

"I have no idea of anybody expressing any opinion. Congress does not take it very seriously and it is an individual opinion. Congress party does not share his views at all", Chacko said.

"Shashi Tharoor has got a habit of speaking in an untimely and in an irresponsible manner. I do not know in what context he has said this. Praising Modi by any sensible Congress man is totally out of question," he added.

Tharoor had earlier on Thursday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the latter's gesture of congratulating him after his victory in the Lok Sabha elections, saying he did not expect him to reach out after their 'nasty' spat.

The former union minister was, however, critical of the Centre, saying there is a huge gap between 'rhetoric and reality'.
