Mumbai: For years now, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have monopolised Id and Diwali for their new releases, respectively. In 2015, however, there will be a change in that order. With Salman’s magnum opus with Sooraj Barjatya Prem Ratan Dhan Payo slotted for a Diwali release, the buzz is that Shah Rukh will now have to consider a different release slot for his big film of the year, Raees.
Sources close to SRK said that while they had been looking to release Raees around Diwali, “no date had been fixed yet”. “We’ll be making a formal announcement regarding a final release date as soon as we’re ready,” our source said.
Now SRK may not have previously been as accommodating of his Diwali release slot, but having now smoothed out animosities with Salman, he would be only too willing to ensure that both their films get the optimal release window they need. Moreover, as an astute businessman, he is aware of how a clash between two big films inevitably ends up affecting them both. “Since there is no bad blood between the two Khans anymore, they’re willing to discuss and plan the release dates of their respective films in a way that is mutually beneficial,” our source said.
“SRK has always held Salman and his other contemporaries in high regard. Above all his sharp business acumen means SRK will lock down on the most appropriate release date for his film.”
