Watch: Ronaldo loses his cool, abuses teammate Gareth Bale

Bale was also whistled by some of the home support when he missed a huge chance

Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo’s intensity and expressiveness on the field has been well-documented. Unfortunately though, they went a notch higher and that too against his teammate Gareth Bale during Real Madrid's tie against Espanyol on Saturday.

During the game, Bale was whistled by some of the home support when he missed a huge chance to seal the three points after sprinting beyond the Espanyol backline with Ronaldo waiting to tap into an empty net.

The Welshman drew both the reproach of some sectors of the stands and Ronaldo's ire when he didn't pass to his strike partner, instead rolling the ball wide.

Unhappy with a missed goal-scoring opportunity, Ronaldo abused Bale in Portuguese, calling him ‘la p*** que te pario’ which if translated in English means ‘the w**re that gave you birth’.

However, Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti opted to play down the incident saying, "Bale played a very good game.

"The public asked him to pass to Cristiano, but all forwards want to score. Bale is just as fundamental for us as Cristiano. They get along well and only want to take Madrid as high as we can go.

"Altruism is an important component of the group. If we see selfish behavior, we will deal with it."
