Dragon lights on banana plantations scaring villagers in Andhra Pradesh

Guntur: Armed reserve police parties have begun combing operations in the capital area of Guntur district, adjoining the River Krishna. Dragon lights were used for conducting night searches in banana and other plantations in the villages. However, the police search operations and intensive checks have left the farmers scared.

Sattenpalli deputy superintendent of police Venkateswarlu Naik, who is camped at the Tullur police station, said, “As miscreants are resorting to the fire mischief, we are on the alert. Banana plantations are generally spread over a large area, and miscreants can easily hide in them and resort to these activities.”

“There are no Greyhound parties and combing is not done in residential areas. These armed men are our Guntur district special police personnel. The police presence during day as well as night will increase confidence among public. We will also be able to stop the anti-social elements,” he added.

The Tullur police station has become a sort of a police camp with six teams investigating the capital fire, the combing parties as well as the cops providing security to the ministers stationed there.

Meanwhile, the cops have failed to crack the case of the capital fire despite several teams investigating the case.

Amaravati inspector of police Hanumantha Rao said, “We are picking up suspects and questioning them.”
