Chennai: Expressing hope that Tamils in Sri Lanka will start seeing the desired political solution henceforth, DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Saturday said the defeat of Mahinda Rajapaksa is proof that law of natural justice is upheld.
Welcoming Rajapaksa’s defeat, Karunanidhi, in a statement issued here, said the law of natural justice will be complete only if fitting punishment is awarded for ethnocide, war crimes and human rights violations.
Stating that Tamils and human rights activists worldwide were gladdened by Rajapaksa’s defeat, Karunanidhi urged the president elect Maithripala Sirisena to not forget the actual cause of his victory and therefore set aside the ethnic differences to fulfill the long-pending demands of Tamils, particularly provision of rights on par with majority Sinahalese.
