Trio not directly involved in blasts
BENGALURU: Police interrogated Syed Ismail Afaque, Saddam Hussain and Abdus Subur, who were arrested on Thursday for being suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives, for over 20 hours, starting from Friday noon till Saturday morning. After a break the interrogation continued till Saturday night.
DCP (Crime) Abhishek Goyal said that during the interrogation, Afaque had confessed many things. “The details will be revealed only after the investigation is completed.”
However, sources said that the trio were involved in terrorism and used to supply explosives to carry out blasts in other cities. “Investigations have so far revealed that though they were not directly involved in blasts, they have confessed to have supplied explosives to blast carry out blasts in other cities.
They have also confessed that they were in touch with those who carried out blasts in Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad in February 2013 and Chennai train blast in May 2014,” sources said.
“They were active members of the banned IM outfit since 2010. Whenever they got direction from their handlers, they used to prepare the bombs and hand it over to a designated person, whom they did not know. They claimed that they do not have direct involvement in any of the blast incidents,” the sources added.
City Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi said the police have sent the explosive devices recovered from the terror suspects to the Forensic Science Laboratory for further examination. “We have not yet received reports from the FSL. Meanwhile, the probe so far ,” he added.
