Bengaluru: Looks like KL Rahul, Karnataka’s latest gift to the Indian Test side, has joined the bandwagon of those sporting a number of tattoos headed by youth icon Virat Kohli.
A couple of months ago the lad got his tattoos on his left arm extended at Kraayonz Tattoos in Bengaluru. From what we hear, this wasn't the first tattoo either for the batsman who scored a patient century against Australia in the fourth Test, and who has his parent’s names tattooed on both wrists.
Deep Kundu, the tattoo artist who did the artwork, reveals, “He got a Maori design a year ago and this time around came to finish it. He says he chose the design because it symbolises positive energy, family and strength, things that he derives his strength and drive from.”
Rahul also got a clock and a figure of a Spartan on the inner part of his arm. “He didn’t say what the clock denotes but in the Spartan, he sees a reflection of himself -- the pitch is his battlefield and the place where his killer instincts kick in,” he reveals. Rahul’s tattoo took seven sittings of eight hours each to complete.
The first time Rahul came for a consultation, he was accompanied by India fast bowler Varun Aaron.”They both came in for the tattoo together, while Rahul got the first part of his tattoo done, Varun got a Mother Mary tattoo with his test cap number, 273. Neither even flinched a bit. They sat through the session without a word,” Deep told Deccan Chronicle.
