H1N1 man dies on way to Hyderabad for treatment
Ongole: The first swine flu death was registered in Prakasam district on Saturday.
A 27-years-old man who was suffering from swine flu in Ongole, died while being shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad. When the ambulance in which he was travelling reached the outskirts of Hyderabad, he died. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
The victim who was working in a stone crushing unit in Yelchuru under the Santamagaluru mandal of Prakasam district had been suffering from cold, cough and fever for the past 15 days and had neglected it all the while. Three days back, he was admitted to Sanghamitra Hospital in Ongole city. On suspicion, the doctors sent his phlegm and blood samples to King Hospital in Chennai, which confirmed swine flu. The medical and health department officials sent him to Hyderabad by an ambulance. By the time he reached Hyderabad, he died.
Also, 10 more persons tested positive for swine flu on Saturday in Hyderabad, taking the total in the first 10 days of the year to 45. Among these 10 are two children aged four years from Nacharam. Hospitals in the city also received a 64-year-old man from Kurnool and a 58-year-old man from Anantapur.
