AAP had destabilised governance in Delhi: PM Narendra Modi

'People should punish those because of whom development of Delhi was stalled for one year'

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his speech, during a public rally at Ramlila Maidan said that in the absence of a government, Delhi had lost a year of development, adding that the AAP had destabilised governance in the city.

“People should punish those because of whom development of Delhi was stalled for one year.”

He also suggested that Mr Kejriwal indulges in “lies” and said voters would punish him for that.

Without directly naming the AAP convenor, the Prime Minister said a “factory of lies” has co-me up in the city and rumours were being spread that if the BJP came to power, the retirement age of government employees will be reduced from the current 60 years to 58. “Every day a new lie is being manufactured. Spreading lies is their job and their politics. Modi can never back-stab anyone,” the PM said.

Mr Modi who intends to put Delhi in the saffron kitty after winning in Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and J&K, targeted slum dwellers and autorickshaw drivers.

The AAP, incidentally, has lost a major chunk of its middle-class votebank after Mr Kejriwal resigned as CM before the general elections.

Trying to dig into the AAP’s leftover vote bank, Mr Modi reached out to the vast slum population and said that he has a dream of “housing for all” and in this regard, he aims to make Delhi slum-free by 2022. Trying to assure auto drivers who have to pay “bribes” to authorities, Mr Modi said once in power in Delhi, the BJP “will stop all corrupt practices”.
