Revanth Reddy to fight Chandrasekhar Rao appointments in Hyderabad High Court

Reddy said that the CM wilfully violated the Constitution and appointed secretaries

Hyderabad: Senior TD Legislator A. Revanth Reddy has decided to move Hyderabad High Court against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for appointing six Parliamentary secretaries and give them minister of state rank apart from entrusting them with responsibilities of ministries in the government.

Speaking to this newspaper on Saturday, Mr Revanth Reddy said that the CM wilfully violated the Constitution and appointed secretaries as he was fully aware of the Constitutional limitations of restricting the ministerial strength. He said the posts were invalid.

“There are some instances where appointment of parliamentary secretaries by various state governments were set aside by higher courts. The Constitution only permits the Council of ministers not exceeding 15 per cent of the total strength of the Assembly. Creating some more posts over and above these permissible limits that are equal to ministers is not allowed by Constitution. I will be moving the HC shortly,” Mr Reddy said.

Similarly, he will also move the HC against the TS Speaker for not accepting the resignation of Talasani Srinivasa Yadav.

“There are orders by higher courts earlier which says Speaker to decide either way (accept or reject) within three weeks after receiving the resignation, but in Srinivasa Yadav case that norm given a go bye, I have now decided to seek a direction to the Speaker from the Court ' Revanth Reddy added.
