Rayalaseema sees flurry of construction activity
Rayalaseema has beaten other regions in AP where new buildings are coming up
Hyderabad: Rayalaseema has beaten other regions in Andhra Pradesh where new buildings coming up in urban areas is concerned.
According to the municipal administration department, all four districts of Rayalaseema together topped the four regions in the number of building approval applications.
However, cities like Vizag topped with 2,930 building plans, followed by Vijayawada with 1,778, and Guntur with 1,151. Meanwhile, despite the announcement of the capital, constructions hasn’t picked up as anticipated in Krishna and Guntur districts. In Krishna, Machilipatnam is the only promising town in the construction sector with 341 new building plan applications.
Assistant city planner of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, P. Madhu Kumar, said, “There is no considerable increase in the number of applications for building plans approval. The capital was announced just two months ago. The people are not certain whether to take up construction in the city or places near the capital region. We expect the number to increase from June. By then, there may be a clear idea of the capital its surroundings.”
Mangalagiri and Tadepalli are the two promising towns in Guntur district part of the core capital city where building approvals are slowly increasing, but officials say the pickup is slow.
Anantapur region, which includes four Rayalaseema districts, has received 5,582 building applications. The Corporations of Tirupati, Anantapur Kadapa and Kurnool, and Nandyal, Adoni, Madanapalle, Palamaneru, Dharmavaram, Guntakal, Hindupur, Badvel and Rayachoti have witnessed good growth in the construction sector. P. Rajasekhar Rao, vice-president of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India, Andhra Pradesh, said, “Post the bifurcation, several prestigious development projects were announced, including establishing an Information Technology Investment Region, IIT and IISER near Tirupati, an international convention centre, tourism circuit and others in and around Tirupati has led to a surge in real estate activity in the region.”
In the state, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Prakasam and West Godavari districts remained non-destinations for construction sector. In North Andhra, except Vizag and Vizianagaram town, none of the towns in the three districts could register a significant growth.
