Hyderabad: Three young men, who were out on a morning walk were mowed down by a rashly driven car at Nagaram village of Maheshwaram on Friday at about 5 am.
The deceased have been identified as Raghave-ndra, 23, Janardhan, 23, and 20-year-old Srisailam. They were students and residents of Nagaram. They would often go for a jog in the morning as they were planning to appear for a police entrance test.
According to the locals, the driver of the speeding car, which mowed down the young men, was drunk at the time of the accident. Several bottles of liquor were found in the car. “The accident did not take place on the highway. It took place on a village road from Nagaram to Maheshwaram. Many people walk on this road,” said the locals.
“The car driver, identified as Ajay, is absconding. He runs a cab from the airport,” said Manmohan, the inspector of Maheshwaram police station.
“A car (AP 28 TV 2632) was involved in the incident. There were several unopened bottles of liquor in the car. One bottle was found open. We have to check if the liquor was consumed by him,” said the inspector.
