NTR Jr’s Telugu Desam membership dilemma
For NTR Junior, 2015 will be a year of big decisions. Currently, there’s a strong should “he or will he” sentiment surging through T’town and his box office fortunes really depend on how he decides to mend his fences especially with the Telugu Desam a relationship which has been rather stormy.
A rumour now claims that the actor, reluctant to renew his TD membership, finally chose to get the job done quietly at his father’s village of Nimmakuru, instead of renewing it here in Hyderabad.
Insiders claim his decision to renew membership was done to appease the furious community-backed Nandamuri fans, who are still threatening to boycott his upcoming Temper, if he refuses to align with the party. NTR Jr’s father Nandamuri Hari Krishna and his brother Kalyanram Rao, meanwhile, have renewed their memberships.
A source close to the actor says, “If he had renewed his TD membership here in Hyderabad, he might have had to meet the party’s top leaders and he really wants to avoid these meets. Which is why, he picked Nimmakuru.” NTR Jr's father Harikrishna owns property in Nimmakuru, which falls under the Pamarru Assembly constituency. The actor, too, now owns land in the region.
The source adds that the whole “renewal row” has been playing on the actor’s mind for a while as it’s almost certain that a decision to not continue with the TD could endanger his films a death blow for the actor who has been struggling for a hit. The source is also sure that his TD membership is just a “precaution” from the man who had famously proclaimed that he would be with the Desam, till blood ran in his veins.
Also, NTR Jr’s dilemma comes at a time when TD co-ordinator Nara Lokesh is claiming to have enrolled over 50 lakh individuals and news of the actor’s reluctance to continue membership could end up sidelining a very public face of the Nandamuri clan.
