Supporters of Congress and TRS candidates clash

Dozens of police personnel had to jump into action to calm the mobs

Hyderabad: The SCB election campaign is seeing all the heat and dust of a regular election. Tension prevailed in SCB’s Ward 4 when supporters of Congress-backed S. Susheela clashed with activists backing TRS-supported P. Neelima.

The two groups of supporters pelted stones at each other near the Santoshi Mata temple in Picket. Dozens of police personnel had to jump into action to calm the mobs.

Marredpally inspector B. Ravindra Reddy said the issue started when some persons objected to TRS workers from Warangal campaigning for Ms Neelima. Supporters of Ms Susheela reached the spot, it soon escalated into violence.

At least six activists were arrested. Some locals claimed that one of the groups was distributing money to voters when it was intercepted by members of the opposing group. However, police did not find any significant cash with either group.
