Ballari: Workers preparing the “kushti akhada” (wrestling arena) near the government primary school in Kaddiramapura village near the World heritage site Hampi sighted a leopard Thursday evening.
An eyewitness said the leopard was coming out from behind a rock boulder at the back of the Krishna temple and immediately rushed inside the nearby sugar fields after seeing workers in the wrestling area. Sighting leopards is not a new phenomena in Hampi, recently, a leopard with cubs was sighted at Mahanavami Dibba.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the three day cultural extravaganza Hampi Utsav on Friday. Ministers R V Deshpande, R Roshan Baig, Ms Umashree and P.T. Parameshwar Naik will accompany the CM.
Surprisngly, none of the Opposition party leaders in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council have been invited to the Utsav.
