Arkavathy: BJP trains guns on CM Siddaramaiah
Bengaluru: Leaders of the state BJP are set to move Governor Vajubhai Vala through a petition seeking his sanction to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his alleged role in the Arkavathy denotification (redo) scam.
Sources in the BJP told Deccan Chronicle that former CM and leader of Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar has had two rounds of discussions with a New Delhi-based advocate on how to proceed against Mr. Siddaramaiah and that all documents pertaining to denotification of land were being translated ahead of submission of the petition to Mr. Vala.
Mr. Shettar told this newspaper: “our party will provide all documents required to our legal experts in Delhi. Within a day or two, our party will launch this battle against the CM.”
Meanwhile, president of the state unit of the party Prahlad Joshi said legal experts based in Delhi have sought translated copies of documents garnered by his colleagues.
After scrutinizing these documents, the party would initiate its battle against the Chief Minister. “There is no question of dropping our protests against the denotification issue,” he added.
Party sources said a worker close to Mr. Shettar would submit the petition to Mr. Vala and seek his permission to prosecute the Chief Minister.
BJP’s in-house committee has submitted a detailed report to state unit leaders describing how the state government allegedly deleted 700 acres land leading to substantial loss to BDA, and depriving nearly 14,000 people of sites worth Rs. 35,000 crores.
BDA had passed a resolution to deontify only 140 acres in 2006, but subsequently it recommended denotification of 707 acres in 2014 with the CM approving the resolution.
