Mystic Mantra: The power of consciousness

Physical body is the vehicle in which a being makes the journey of the spirit

It is a misconception that the physical is divorced from the spiritual. The physical body is the vehicle in which a being makes the journey of the spirit. For the journey to be successful, it is important that the body is in top form.

Ancient texts abound with description of men and women whose strength, beauty, attraction and glow could mesmerise and attract not just earthly beings but also the gods and goddesses. These people did not go to gyms and parlours or undergo surgeries and implants… some of them spent years in jungles and in ashrams, asking for alms to meet their daily need. Yet, their glow and magnetism was unsurpassed and stayed till they breathed their last.

On the other hand, men of today spend hours in gyms, consume all kinds of diet supplements and invest in the most sophisticated beauty and health products and yet health and youth elude them. The majority complain of joint and back problems, hair loss, wrinkles and age lines, dullness of complexion and loss of strength and vigour by their 30s.

The reason for the above is simple. The men of yesteryear relied on consciousness which was channelised by their guru; the men of today resort to machines and chemicals — the former elevate you, the latter age you.

Our body exists at the level of elements (which we see, touch, hear, smell and taste) and also at the level of consciousness. It is the latter which governs the former and not vice-versa. It is consciousness that manifested into the five elements that formed our body and it is only by accessing this consciousness that we can manifest anything in our body and in creation, which is what our ancestors did.

Trying to alter the consciousness by physical means has the reverse effect of ageing the body. This would be apparent when you go to meet a dietician. You will find the dietician himself or herself will not be exuding the glow, would be devoid of any kind of strength, would be over-frail and over-cosmeticised. The science of yoga is based on tapping the phenomenal power of consciousness. When that happens, a practitioner’s ability of thought manifestation heightens.
