Telangana seeks airport at Kothagudem, KCR writes to P Ashok Gajapathi Raju

Khammam: The Telangana state government has sought an airport at Kothagudem. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has written to Union minister for civil aviation P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju on the importance of an airport at Kothagudem.
Khammam district is among the furthest districts from Hyderabad, and it has substantial economic activity. The state government has identified 1,600 acres of land at Punuguduchelaka near Kothagudem for the airport, which is 240 km from Shamshabad airport.
In his letter, the Chief Minister said that religious tourists visit Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy at Bhadrachalam and parnasala and they will use the airport. Besides, the staff of state and private organisations can use the proposed airport, Mr Rao wrote.
