CES update: A new, secure smartwatch that does not need a smartphone

This smartwatch runs on Android and is a complete smartphone on your wrist

GoldKey, a tech company, has announced a new smartwatch at the CES 2015 in Las Vegas. The smartwatch is nothing similar to what you see in the market from all leading brands.

While most rival smartwatches are simple communication devices work on the wrist, but need to be paired with an existing smartphone, be it Android or iOS. Without a smartphone, the smartwatch is a simple timepiece with some additional limited features. GoldKey has announced a new smartwatch, which is one step ahead from what is available in the market today.

GoldKey announced the Secure Communicator, which is a secure, fully-functional smartphone, packed into a tiny shell.

The Secure Communicator comes with GoldKey inside, which is a dual-factor authentication device, featuring secure email, encrypted cloud storage and supports Gold Pay.

The Communicator also has a built-in 5 megapixel camera and an HD video camera – not to mention a GPS, high quality speaker, microphone, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi Hotspot.

The Secure Communicator is a sompletely functional Android smartphone and the user can simply place a SIM card into it and leave their smartphone behind. It features a dual-core processor and runs Google’s Android operating system supporting all apps from Google Play.

It features an onboard 5MP camera and can record HD videos. You can play music on the device itself or stream it via Bluetooth headphones. Make calls, send SMS, reply to emails, the smartphone can do everything an Android smartphone can do.

The wristband doubles up as an antenna for improved performance on Wi-Fi and GSM radio.

The GoldKey Secure Communicator is available for $199.95 (approx Rs 12,000) with GoldKey Premium services. The smartwatch is also available as a standalone device without the services for $399.95 (approx Rs 24,000).
