Sunanda Pushkar death case: Doctors rule out heart attack
New Delhi: AIIMS forensic head, Dr Sudhir Gupta indicated that Sunanda Pushkar had an “unnatural death” and could have “died of poisoning”. The doctors conducting the post-mortem had earlier also said that she had about a dozen injury marks and bruises.
Deccan Chronicle had reported on January 21, 2014, that the doctors conducting the post-mortem report had said that she could have died due to poisoning, leaving it to the investigating agencies to determine whether it was a case of “suicide” or “accident”.
A doctor from AIIMS forensic department, who had conducted the post-mortem said: “We have been saying right from the beginning that she could have died due to poisoning. The toxicology report pointed to presence of toxic substances like polonium, thallium and nerium oleander.”
The doctor said the “investigations had ruled out the possibility of a heart attack or any prolonged ailment”.
