Intelligence alert leads to intense sea patrol
Pudukkottai: Following Intelligence alert after a Pakistani boat, carrying a group of terrorists, was intercepted on the night of December 31, 2014, on the western coast, the Manamelgudi coastal security group (CSG) police, led by inspector Krishnaraj and sub-inspector of police J. Jawahar, conducted sea patrolling around 20 km nautical miles from the coast.
They covered the coastal areas of Manalmelgudi, Kattumavadi, Kottaipatnam and Jagathapatnam of Pudukkottai district, and also conducted a thorough check of all country and fibre glass boats that had put out to sea Tuesday.
According to CSG sources, during the patrol, the personnel advised the fishermen to inform them immediately if they spotted any suspicious boat. Apart from the sea patrolling and boat checking, they also created an awareness about possible intruders from other nations into the Tamil Nadu coastal areas. The sources said a similar drill was conducted throughout the Tamil Nadu coast.
