Television artiste charged with cheating
Hyderabad: A small time Telugu TV serial artiste allegedly duped a junior artiste of Rs 5 lakhs by promising him a role in a TV serial. When the victim asked for the money back, the accused claimed that he is a relative of an IPS official, and that he would book false cases against him.
The victim R. Vara Prasad from PNT colony, approached the Langer House police and lodged a complaint. According to the police, Vishnu demanded Rs 5 lakh from Vara Prasad for a role in a serial to be produced by a reputed TV channel.
He promised that he would return the money in 45 days, and would part with some profit if the series makes some money. “However, the victim waited for six months and did not get any role or profit that was promised.
When he approached the accused, he refused to give him the money back,” said a police official from Langer House police station. The victim also told the police that Vishnu threatened him with dire consequences claiming that he was related to an IPS officer is his relative.
