Godman Shoukath Hussain from Tamil Nadu arrested
He was a computer hardware trader from TN, targeted a woman
Hyderabad: In a curious case, a phone number written on a currency note resulted in a city woman being lured and exploited by a man from Tamil Nadu.
Police on Tuesday arrested Shoukath Hussain, 25, a computer hardware trader from TamIl Nadu, who had targeted the woman. Police said Shoukath, a native of Hussainpura of Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district, had found the phone number written on a Rs 10 currency note, and dialled it.
As the call was answered by the city woman. Shoukath sweet-talked his way and pretended to be a godman and promised to help her overcome her personal and financial problems.
“He told her that his treatment could help her husband overcome their financial problems and that they would become rich. He came down to Hyderabad a few times and met her in a hotel. He took money from her and sexually exploited her," said a senior police official from the CCS.
“Later, he started threatening her saying he that he would inform her husband about their encounters if she does not give him more money,” said the official. The woman the approached the police.
Police tracked down Shoukath and trapped him with the help of the victim in Hyderabad. He has been booked for outraging a woman’s modesty, extortion and cheating among others.
How did the phone number come to be on the currency note? The victim said that somebody had written the number to harass her.
