Lena Dunham denies engagement rumours with boyfriend Jack Antonoff

Los Angeles: Actress Lena Dunham has denied that she got engaged to boyfriend Jack Antonoff. Dunham said the ring in her finger is a gift from co-executive producer of ‘Girls’ and her good friend Jenni Konner.

Dunham, 28, first sparked engagement rumours after she shared a selfie which showed her wearing a suspicious gold band on her ring finger on December 29. She was later photographed sporting the same ring when going out on New Year’s Eve. Konner revealed at ‘Girls’ season 4 premiere party in New York City on Monday night that she and Dunham have friendship rings, which both of them wear in their ring fingers, reported People magazine.

“(Lena and I) have friendship rings. They’re a stack of three. We both wear them on that finger for some reason – that’s the finger they fit on – and those are our friendship rings. When they announced that (Lena) was wearing an engagement ring, I was like, ‘Yeah, to me!'

Dunham then added, “Yeah, we’re engaged to continue to work together for the rest of my life.” The ‘Tiny Furniture’ actress wondered why the ring captured people’s attention, when she already wears a ring gifted by Antonoff.

“It’s funny, I have a ring that my boyfriend gave me that I wear on my right hand, and like, clearly nobody gives a damn about – it’s like a diamond!

“And everybody was like, ‘Let’s ignore that diamond and focus on this stack of three rings.’ I definitely had a feeling, like, ‘Slow news day, dudes?'” she said. According to Dunham, Antonoff’s mother even questioned him about the rumors.

“My boyfriend … was like, ‘My mom called asking if we’re engaged?’ She has a Google Alert on him. I also just want to say, if we’re going to get engaged, we would be more creative than to do it on New Year’s Eve.”
