Asaduddin Owaisi faults Ghar Wapsi
Hyderabad: MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday reiterated his comments on ‘Ghar Wapsi’ (home coming) allegedly sponsored by Sangh Parivar.
He said the Indian Constitution does not allow forcible religious conversions. While talking to reporters at his party head quarters Darussalam here, he said “According to our faith, every child is born a Muslim, but his parents convert him to other religions.”
Reacting to a question on Monday he said “I am not saying that people have to agree with me and convert. People have every right to disagree with my belief. Constitution has provided a right to the citizen to embrace the religion of his choice and also for conversion. There is no provision in the Constitution for forcible conversions.”
Responding to a query on reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi disapproved of conversions at a party MPs meeting, Mr Owaisi said, “If he is serious let him come out openly.”
The Hyderabad MP in his speech in a public meeting on the eve of ‘Milad-un-Nabi’ on Saturday night at his party headquarters had lashed out at ‘Ghar Wapasi’ alleging that “Muslims are being wooed with Rs 5 lakh and Christians with Rs 2 lakh to convert. Only five lakh? What a joke. Muslims can’t leave Islam even if you give them the wealth of the world.”
