Our message has been put across: Swanand Kirkire
Swanand Kirkire, who will be playing the lead role in Prakash Jha’s The Crazy Cukkad Family, is going to be busy with the film’s promotions in the New Year, but the lyricist still finds himself clearing the air about the controversy that his last film pk raised.
Speaking about the same he said, “The nation has accepted pk and people are appreciating the efforts. The message we wanted to convey has been put across and people have loved the film. The people who are raising an issue and have been offended now are those who are highlighted in the film.”
Is this a sticky situation for the Censor Board? “How can the Censor Board stop vandalism? Like the Supreme Court said, ‘If you don’t like the content of the film, don’t watch it.’
Why make a mountain out of a molehill? Why are these people damaging theatres? What have the theatre people done? I think we Indians overreact to everything,” he added.
Coming back to his other big release this year, Kirkire tells us it is different from what he has done in the past. “My character has varied shades. I am inspired by Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar saab and, therefore, can never restrict myself to one genre.”
