BJP cautions Ramadoss on criticising Centre

Ramadoss son and former Union minister Dr Anbumani had become a MP due to BJP’s support

Chennai: BJP state president, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, took strong exception to PMK founder Dr S. Ramadoss for criticising the BJP-led government at the Centre, and reminded him that his son and former Union minister Dr Anbumani had become a MP due to BJP’s support. “Merely criticising for the sake of criticising or agitating is not politics. One should not be stumbling blocks to development,” she said, and cautioned him not to go overboard in criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “If he was really concerned over taking up people’s issues, he could ask his son to raise those issues in Parliament,” she said, terming Dr Ramadoss’ remarks as “unfortunate”.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, she said the opposition party leaders, including TNCC chief E.V.K.S. Elangovan, TMC leader G.K. Vasan and MDMK chief Vaiko seemed to fix the onus on the Centre for the coal-bed methane extraction project. “In fact, they ought to know that this project was initiated by the previous government,” the senior leader added.

Asked about her party’s stand on the issue, she said her party would not do anything that would affect the interests of the farmers in the state. Earlier, welcoming about 500 persons, including DMK former youth wing organiser from Chepauk N. Rajendran and Central Chennai DMDK engineer wing secretary Rajasingam, into the saffron party, Dr Tamilisai said the new members have joined the BJP by reposing faith in Mr Modi. “Their trust will not go in vain as Mr Modi is capable of delivering the goods,” she added.
