Hindu Mahasabha against Mahatma Gandhi's picture on currency notes
Lucknow: After announcing Godse temples across the country, the Hindu Mahasabha now wants Mahatma Gandhi’s photograph on Indian currency notes to be replaced. The Hindu Mahasabha wants Gandhi’s photograph to be replaced with that of Chhatrapati Shivaji, Maharana Pratap and Dr B.R. Ambedkar. The inclusion of Dr Ambedkar in the Mahasabha agenda is a clear indication that the Hindu outfit is determined to make inroads into the Dalit vote bank.
The Mahasabha working president Kamlesh Tiwari told reporters that he would soon be sending a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to stop universities, colleges and schools from teaching students that Gandhi is the Father of the Nation since the same has not been notified in any government record.
The Mahasabha has already announced its plans to build a Godse temple in Sitapur and inaugurate it on January 30--- the day Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. The Mahasabha plans to observe January 30 as ‘Shaurya Diwas’. “We will put up posters of Godse in parks and community centers and also hold seminars to put forth our point of view,” Tiwari said.
