Ex-MP’s son Chandra Shekar Reddy shoots himself
Hyderabad: Miryalguda ex-MP B.N. Reddy's son Chandra Shekar Reddy, 56, allegedly shot himself in the head with his licensed firearm in his house at Banjara Hills on Sunday.
Mr Reddy died instantly although his family shifted him to Apollo Hospital.
Police officials said that Mr Reddy, an architect, was depressed over health problems. The family refused to reveal any reasons.
The incident occurred at around 1 pm when his wife and mother-in-law went outside. His father-in-law Srikant Reddy, who is a retired IG, was at home on the ground floor.
“Chandra Shekar Reddy was on the first floor and his room was locked from inside. He fired at his temple and the bullet came out from the other side,” said Banjara Hills ACP D. Uday Kumar Reddy.
Though his father-in-law heard the shot, he could not go and check out.
“Mr Srikant Reddy is more than 80-years-old and could not check it out instantly. After half an hour, Chandra Shekar Reddy’s wife and mother-in-law came back and found the room locked from inside. They forcibly opened the door and found him in a pool of blood,” said a police officer.
They shifted him to Apollo Hospital.
The police arrived only after the body was shifted to the hospital.
Police said that they have not found any suicide note. “We are still investigating the cause of his suicide. The family has told us very little so far,” said an official.
According to one of the relatives, who did not want to be named, Chandra Shekar Reddy was suffering from kidney disease. “His mother had died earlier due to the same disease. He was depressed about his health since many months,” the relative said.
The police has booked a case and is investigating.
