Bhubaneswar: A senior official of the Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) was found dead on Monday in the city. The local Commissionerate of Police recovered the body from near the Army School in Veer Surendra Sai Nagar.
The Sahid Nagar police rushed to the spot with a scientific team after locals informed them of a body lying on the road.
The deceased was identified as K. Surya Prasad Rao, assistant general manager (AGM finance), VSP.
The body was later taken to the Capital Hospital for autopsy to ascertain the real cause of his death. The police said preliminary investigation suggested that the injury marks on Rao’s body point to a possible murder angle.
Investigating officer Biswajit Monobodha said an air ticket was found on his person, which revealed the address of the deceased and the purpose of his visit to Bhubaneswar. “We have registered an U/D (unlawful detainer) case and investigating,” he said.
