Watch: New Islamic State video shows British journalist giving tour of Iraqi city Mosul

In the video, the Islamic State captive John Cantlie is seen describing life in Mosul

The Islamic State has released a new video in which British hostage John Cantlie is seen giving a tour inside the city of Mosul in Iraq.

The eight-minute video, which emerged on YouTube, was released by the IS' foreign language division. However, the video has been repeatedly taken down.

He was kidnapped along with American journalist James Foley, who was beheaded in August.

In the documentary-style video, Cantlie visits a market place, a hospital and a police station. He added there were 'severe shortages of food and water, no functioning public institutions, and the local economy in a state of near collapse.'

Cantlie also mentions that the Western media's perception of the city is 'misleading'. He claims that life in Mosul is 'business as usual' and people are not 'living in fear'.

Cantlie also attempts to show that healthcare in the city has not been hit. The video shows him with babies in a hospital ward, where he claims that ‘they are being treated for trauma after western bombs fell near their homes’.

ISIS militants captured Iraq’s second largest city in June.
