Xiaomi unveils new 4G Redmi 2 handset with 8MP camera
Xiaomi has finally unveiled the most-awaited 4G handset, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 , which falls in the Hongmi entry-level phone category.
The Redmi 2 features a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS Retina screen and has a pixel density of 312ppi. The dual-SIM Redmi 2 boasts of MIUI 6 and is powered by 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 processor, Adreno 306 GPU and offers 1GB of RAM.
Its 8MP rear camera comes with an Omnivision sensor and supports 1080P HD video recording. Face detection, real-time HDR mode, Panorama mode, burst mode, exposure control and real-time filters are the different modes added to the rear shooter. Whereas, the 2MP front-facing camera on the Redmi 2 also supports 720P HD video recording.
Redmi 2 comes with an in-built storage capacity of 8GB, which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. Fuelled with a 2200mAh battery, the handset will be available in five colour variants – White, dark gray, pale, light green and bright yellow.
Media reports state that the new 4G Redmi 2 device will enter the Chinese market on January 9, 2015.
