Hyderabad: Cyberabad police’s She Teams have nabbed around 11 persons for eve-teasing and stalking women in public places.
So far about nine cases have been booked. After the success of the She Teams in Hyderabad commissionerate, they were launched recently in Cyberabad.
The teams, which started functioning from December 24 last year, patrolled spots notorious for eve-teasing in various areas of Malkajgiri, LB Nagar, Shamshabad, Balanagar and Madhapur zones.
The police said 10 teams are working round the clock and keeping a check on eve-teasers and crooks in the IT corridor where a majority of techies work. The cops are focusing on this belt as it is frequented by a large number of women techies.
The police said that every Saturday professional counselling is provided at the CAW (Crime Against Women) Cell at the Cyberabad police commissionerate. The offenders are also asked to join the teams in spreading awareness on women’s safety.
The counselling is done under the guidance of Malkajgiri DCP Rama Rajeshwari, M.S. Usha ACP (crimes), Snehita, ACP (cyber crimes) and trained counsellors.
Police said that the Cyberabad She Team’s official Facebook page is also drawing good response with many women using the platform to message about eve-teasing incidents, hot spots and details of harassment.
