No one from National Conference talking to BJP: Omar Abdullah

These reports had also said that the BJP is bargaining with both the NC and the PDP

SRINAGAR: Outgoing Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) working president Omar Abdullah has denied that his party is holding negotiations with the BJP on government formation.

“Let me reiterate that neither I nor my father is discussing any sort of alliance with the BJP,” he tweeted. Earlier reports had suggested that the BJP’s top leadership had got in touch with NC chief Farooq Abdullah, who is recuperating in London after undergoing kidney transplant, after his son Omar’s disinclination in the face of stiff opposition from within the party.

These reports had also said that the BJP is bargaining with both the NC and the PDP. This was confirmed by BJP chief Amit Shah also, who stated that his party was in touch with both the NC and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Sources in the BJP said that several of its leaders and the majority of its cadres are somewhat strung-up over the fact that the PDP is demanding its pound of flesh and is seemingly unwilling to budge from its known stands on the issues of Article 370 and AFSPA.
