Governor Vajubai Vala sends back file on KPSC nominations
Bengaluru: In an embarrassment for the Siddaramaiah government, Governor Vajubai Vala has sent back the list of names recommended by it for members of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
Sources in the office of the Chief Secretary said the Governor had sent back the list seeking more information about the nominees.
“The issue will be discussed with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah after his return from Hassan, and the required details will be submitted to Mr Vala," they said.
The state government had recommended the names of former IPS officer, Syed Ulfat Hussain, Mr Govindaiah, Mr Raghunandan Ramanna, Dr Ravikumar, Dr Nagabhai B Bulla and Mr Micheal Simon as members of the KPSC.
On Friday, a delegation led by state BJP president, Prahlad Joshi and former Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa met the Governor and submitted him a memorandum, appealing to him to reject the list claiming the members did not qualify to be on board the KPSC.
Mr Vala had then reportedly assured the delegation that he would take a decision after consulting legal experts.
Although the BJP is questioning the credentials of the members recommended for the commission, Mr Siddaramaiah has defended his government’s choice and sent the list to the Governor for his approval.
Meanwhile, sources close to the Chief Minister said the Governor wanted to know if Mr Sudarshan, Mr Govindaiah and Dr Ravikumar were still attached to any political party, and this had been clarified to him.
According to sources close to CM, the governor had sought some clarification regarding Mr V.R. Sudarshan, Mr Govindaiah and Dr Ravikumar whether they still are with any political party, and the same had been clarified and sent it back to the governor’s office.
