GHMC acts on High Court order, removes flexies

GHMC staff removed political banners and posters

Hyderabad: Scores of flexies, banners and posters of politicians that dotted the Rashtrapati Road in Secunderabad were removed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation enforcement wing staff on Saturday in a cleanup drive.

Supporters of newly inducted commercial taxes minister T. Srinivas Yadav, prohibition and excise minister T. Padma Rao and others had put up flexies, posters and banners hailing Mr Srinivas Yadav for being inducted into the ministry along with New Year and Pongal greetings on the busy Kingsway, Ghasmandi Cross Roads and Audiahnagar.

Deccan Chronicle had published a report about the eyesore created by the flexi war between supporters of the two ministers, which led to the entire stretch of the road and bylanes being decked with pink flexies, banners and posters.

Even as the GHMC staff launched the cleanup drive, green flags and buntings cropped up at the Ghasmandi crossroads where a dargah is located in connection with Milad-un-Nabi leaving the staff perplexed.

While the GHMC staff removed political banners and posters, they did not touch the green flags.
