CCB ‘sketches’ Church Street blast suspect, alerts intelligence agencies

The intelligence files reveal that after the jailbreak, they have been moving across the country

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch of city police have reportedly created a sketch of a man, who could be the main suspect in the December 28 Church Street blast in which one woman lost her life and three others were seriously injured.

The sketch has reportedly been shared with the anti terrorist squads (ATS) of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and the central intelligence agencies, which are assisting the probe.

The CCTV footage, which has been shared with the ATS of these states, has reportedly not thrown any significant light on the perpetrators, because the CCTV camera of Coconut Grove, the restaurant, where the blast occurred just outside its premises, was not working.

The police are yet to come to conclusion on who could be behind the attack, but the five absconders from the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) are reportedly emerging as the "prime suspects."

The intelligence files reveal that after the jailbreak, they have been moving across the country; from Jhasguda and Sampatpura in Odisha in December 2013 to Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi before taking shelter in Bijnor in Western UP till the accidental blast in their house in September 2014.

In between, they carried out a number of crimes including bank heist in Karimnagar in Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.
