BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of criminal appeals of AIADMK chief J. Jayalalithaa and three others convicted in a disproportionate assets case to January 5.
Following the Supreme Court directions, the high court on Thursday constituted a Special Bench of Justice C.R. Kumaraswamy to hear the criminal appeals of Ms Jayalalithaa and three others.
Ms Jayalalithaa, who was convicted by a special court, filed necessary documents, running into thousands of pages, before the high court recently.
The Supreme Court, while extending bail for Ms Jayalalithaa by four months in the disproportionate assets case, had asked the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court to constitute a special bench to decide her plea within three months.
A special court in Bengaluru had convicted Ms Jayalalithaa and three others with four years jail along with fine in the case. The court had also slapped a fine of Rs 100 crore on the former Tamil Nadu chief minister and Rs 10 crore on each of the three other convicts.
