Amul milk will hit Vijaya Dairy, feels Telangana State government

The Telangana government is up in arms to protest the entry of Amul milk
Hyderabad: The Telangana government is up in arms to protest the entry of Amul milk into the state to protect its Vijaya Dairy from the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation.
The GCMMF has tied up with the Nalgonda Ranga Reddy Milk Producers Mutually Aided Cooperative Union Limited, Narmac, which runs Mother Dairy, for processing, packaging and marketing of Amul milk here.
According to sources, the government’s contention is that there is no objection, if GCMMF sets up its own dairy and procures milk from Telangana traders. But, in this case it has been procuring milk from Gujarat, transporting it through containers to Mother Dairy for processing, packaging and marketing, which is objectionable, since it hurts the interests of local dairy farmers.
Moreover, the Vijaya Dairy claims that Narmac cannot assist GCMMF as the land allotted to Narmac belongs to the state government. Agriculture and animal husbandry minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said, “We have already asked the cooperative department to inquire into this issue and submit a report.”
