Mumbai: Whenever filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and singer Mohit Chauhan have come together for a film, it has led to cinematic magic, as well as musical marvels. First it was Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, and then the musical masterpiece Rockstar. And now, the two are all set to collaborate once again.
“He’s a director who truly understands life, music and romance, and he depicts them beautifully in his films. And now I am again working with him in his next film that should come out in 2015,” says Mohit.
Talking about his song in the upcoming film, Mohit says, “It’s a beautiful song about love and life. Music has always been special in Imtiaz’s films and this song is composed by none other than A.R. Rahman.”
Apart from Imtiaz, Mohit is working with Pritam and also working on a solo album that will be out this year. He shares that apart from singing, he is also planning to compose music.
“While I have composed music for my albums, there’s only one song that I composed for films: Guncha from Mein Meri Patni Aur Woh. I am once again composing for films, so now, people will get to hear more of my own music,” he says.
Mohit shares that after working for 15 years in the industry, he feels it’s time for him to “just chill”. “I don’t like to work all the time now. I feel I am in that space where I want to take some time off and just travel and read, and work only when something really good comes along,” he says.
But Mohit is also thinking about forming a band again, but this time at his own pace.
He says, “I’ve been seriously thinking about it. And I will definitely form one if I meet people with whom I can just be on the road; travel with music and musicians. When you are travelling, there’s romance and there’s music. So if I find that in the journey of life, I would love to be on the road again.”
