Master of microphone Richie Benaud will miss Sydney Test

The legendary commentator revealed he is receiving radiation treatment for skin cancer

Mumbai: The world's highly respected cricket commentator Richie Benaud will not be available for the forthcoming home Test between Australia and India commencing in Sydney on Tuesday. This was revealed by his secretary, Kathy.

In August last year, Channel Nine was planning for master commentator Richie Benaud to call the Sydney Test against India in New Year from his lounge room but that is unlikely to happen now.

Speaking exclusively over telephone from Richie Benaud's house in Sydney, his secretary, Kathy said, "unfortunately Benaud will not be doing commentary for this Test match. Neither he will be available for commentary from home, nor he would be going to the Sydney Cricket Ground".

"He is not very strong. He is doing OK after being diagnosed with skin cancer recently but no commentary this time", she added.

The 85-year-old Benuad was resting at some undisclosed destination.The legendary commentator Richie Benaud had revealed he is receiving radiation treatment for skin cancer on his forehead and top of the head. In October 2013, Benaud also met with a serious car injury in car crash and has not recovered since then.
