Telangana land regularisation scheme sop to aid pending applicants

While 14,000 applications were regularised, about 6,000 were kept pending

Hyderabad: Telangana land regularisation scheme has turned out to be a boon for pending applicants from the city.

These applicants, who submitted applications for regularisation in the undivided state, can get their lands regularised even if they are lying vacant, contrary to TS government’s policy of regularisation, only if buildings exist on such lands. Nearly 780 acres of costly lands in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts that are under encroachment are lying vacant which now can be regularised by paying nominal amount.

The government recently issued orders for regularisation of various government lands, but did not give any clarity about thousands of applications that are already pending with the government since 2008. The YSR government had released GO 166 for regularisation of lands in 2008. In response, 1.44 lakh applications were received, of which 1.24 lakh were rejected.

While 14,000 applications were regularised, about 6,000 were kept pending.

The TS government has decided to regularise pending applications based on older norms that were stipulated under GO 166. The fresh orders to this effect will be issued in a day or two.

In Hyderabad and RR districts, about 1,641 acres of government lands are stuck in legal disputes. Of them, buildings came up in 864 while the rest 777 acres are lying vacant.

Regularisation of lands as per older norms would enable occupants of these 777 acres to regularise lands by paying a nominal amount.
