Governor plans Chandrasekhar Rao, Chandrababu Naidu peace
Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said that he would do whatever possible to resolve the pending issues confronting the Telangana and AP state governments.
He said that he was still waiting for responses from the respective governments on the options he had suggested to the states over conducting a common EAMCET examination for 2015.
In a brief interaction with the media at the Raj Bhavan, during the “praja darbar”, the Governor had said on the eve of New Year’s Day that it was not an easy task for him to implement whatever he felt like.
“Since elected governments are there now, one cannot expect decisions like it was during the Governor’s rule; it is my responsibility to see that all the contentious issues are sorted out amicably by continuously talking to respective governments,” Mr Narasimhan pointed out.
Praising both Chief Ministers K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, for having clear-cut visions on developing their states, the Governor said that he would, however, see that both leaders sat across the table and thrash out any irritants.
“I will also see that both meet in my presence some time in the new year,” Mr Narasimhan said. Stating that it was nothing, but natural for both the new states to face some problems, the Governor said his role now would be like a friend, philosopher and guide and hoped all issues would be resolved in a phased manner.
On Thursday, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Mr Mohammad Ali and Dr T. Rajaiah visited the Raj Bhavan in the afternoon and after initial exchanges of pleasantries for some time, the Chief Minister and Governor discussed several things for more than one and a half hours.
There was no official word either from Raj Bhavan or from the Chief Minister’s Office on the nature of discussions except that they were on routine issues.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had met the governor on Wednesday to exchange New Year greetings in advance before leaving for Vijayawada.
